Tania is Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedicine of the University of Basel. She joined the department as tenure-track assistant professor in neurophysiology in January 2015, and was tenured in August 2020. She arrived from the University of Copehhagen, were she was group leader since 2013.

During a 5-year postdoctoral stay at Prof. Takao Hensch’s lab at Harvard University, Tania worked on a project aimed at defining a critical period for plasticity in the developing auditory system.

Tania completed her PhD in Prof. Henry Markram’s lab at the EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland), where she studied altered neocortical microcircuitry in the VPA rat model of autism. She holds a M.Sc. in Chemistry from the EPFL.

 

Awards & Memberships

In 2014 Tania was awarded an ERC Starting grant from the European Reseach Council. In 2013 she received the Lundbeck Foundation Fellowship and in 2007 the EPFL Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation award for outstanding PhD thesis.

Tania is a member of the Harvard Society of Fellows since 2008.
