Patrícia graduated from University of Coimbra and holds a Bachelor degree in Biomedical Pharmacy and a Master degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with Specialization in Neurobiology.

Before joining our lab, Patrícia developed her Master thesis project in the Neuroendocrinology and Aging Group, at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC), Coimbra, Portugal, where she worked with a knockout mouse model of a Sirtuin Family member, Sirtuin 2, to study its role on metabolic regulation of hypothalamus, liver and also adipose tissue. Patrícia was also a Visiting researcher, under an Erasmus’ scholarship, at the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS), Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Her scientific interest in functioning and integrity of the nervous system led her to find our lab and apply for a PhD. She joined the lab in April 2018 and brilliantly defended her PhD thesis, entitled “Juveline development of the mouse auditory system”, on September 28 2022. She is now postdoctoral fellow in our lab.
