Two recent studies (Superkar et al., Cell Reports 2013; Keown et al., Cell Reports 2013) describe brain hyperconnectivity in autism spectrum disorders. These results confirm the relevance of our studies in the VPA rat model of autism (Rinaldi et al., Cerebral Cortex 2008; Rinaldi et al., Front Neural Circuits 2008) and might give a “second life” to this animal model.
